Being a small business ourselves, we recognize that you may not need always the high powered and expensive solutions that are out there. Instead, we focus on finding and making available the several turn key solutions that exist out on the web so you can have a professional-grade products with minimal fuss.

HostIGR Website Design:

HostIGR’s primary focus has always been websites. We started out by building advanced, high powered websites, but quickly found that the group we most wanted to help, small businesses who are just getting started, couldn’t afford a completely custom website, or worse, thought they needed one when they didn’t!

We know that small businesses benefit from having a website. These days, it’s at least as important as a phone number in many cases. The first thing people do, when researching whether or not they’d like to do business with you, is try to find out about you from your website. It’s an absolutely critical way to get the word out about your business.

So we changed focus. With a new goal of trying to build professional websites for businesses that don’t want to pay an arm and a leg and who may not have technical staff on hand to continue updating their site, we began focusing on some new technologies.

Rather than designing a website from scratch, we help our customers mold various Content Management Systems (CMS’s) into their vision.

The main technologies we’re focusing on (but not limited to) are:

• Joomla! is an amazing system to work with. It allows you to use shopping carts connected to any web based payment system, write articles, display pictures and movies, and looks very professional.
• WordPress is an e-publishing suite that lets you blog, post articles, and generally create a professional looking publishing site.

Joomla and WordPress are Content Management Systems (CMS’s). They let you write using an editor, publish your writing to the web, and deal with menus and forms rather than have to know how to use the code that goes into a website. Time and again, one or the other of these tends to be voted the top free CMS platform.

They use templates to make the site even more customizeable. You can find a template that fits your vision. Templates are often free, but for some of the most professional templates or templates without references to the author on them, you may have to pay a small fee (usually between $10 and $50) to use it.

But wait, didn’t I just say these CMS platforms and templates are free? Then why are we charging you for them? We’re not! That’s part of what helps keep our costs down. Our goal is to provide you a basic level of understanding and training to use these systems while we help you build a professional looking site. You also will get our years of experience in crafting sites that your customer will want to visit (instead of a site that looks great to you, but your customer finds difficult to use). Because these tools exist for free in most cases, we can pair them with our expertise and assistance to provide a low-cost ($300 in most cases), professional service that gets you off the ground and gives you a website you can be proud to point your customers to.

HostIGR Hosting Solutions

Have a website, but lacking a place to display it? Fed up with your previous hosting company? HostIGR started providing hosting services to be a “one stop shop” for customers that want it. Many of our customers want continued support from us, and that support is cheaper and easier to provide if we don’t have to go through a third party hosting group!

We can set you up with your own private corner of the internet with access to all the industry standards: cPanel, PhPmyAdmin, email (pop, imap, and webmail), full database support, file management and FTP, and much more!

We’re not trying to compete with some of the big name hosting companies out there. If you require 99.9% uptime, hundreds of Gb of bandwidth or storage, or non-standard tools installed in the OS (and if you know what all that means), you might be better off paying a little more for a high powered hosting service.

If, on the other hand, you want to have cheap ($25 / year), reliable hosting for your small business or personal site, want to deal with a personable small company, or just want to have your website builders (us) also host your site because it’s easier to maintain that way, we’re happy to help!

Computers

HostIGR also does computer work! Are you nearby and need a little help? Maybe you need to uninstall Norton or McAfee (and want to switch to one of the many free antivirus programs). Maybe your computer has just slowed down and you need some help speeding it back up. Maybe you’ve had an emergency and need to get some advice or help salvaging as much as you can!

Maybe you need a new computer, or need an old computer to meet a new need. We can help price out and build new computers and laptops for any number of functions, and since we aren’t a retail store, we’re not trying to push you to computers we have “in stock” or our “deal of the week”. You can get some honest advice, and honest help.

Sometimes, you just have a new need. Maybe you want to start a file server, or a media server. Maybe you want to stream video to your TV, or be able to access your files from the internet. Perhaps you want to learn to program, but want a separate computer to do so? Maybe you’ve got kids and need a cheap machine that comes with lots of free games for them.
